’Gate Bay is the inspired collaboration of Andre Frauenstein and Andy Murrell. Coming together from two different vantage points in electronic music; the twosome discovered and developed a strong friendship several years ago, whilst serving their own sound sectors in the local dance music industry. Andre’s intense stage presence and productions have pioneered his own era in dance culture as a leading hard techno artist, and Andy’s progressive intuition has seen him intricately command many dance floors into mass-moving epiphany.
Merging energies and a melting pot of influences, Andy’s definitive respect for sun drenched beats and melodic overtones coupled with Andre’s dark soul and boisterous hard head have come together to bring about a new harmonic resonance. Gate Bay’s intention is to fill the longing you never knew you had; a creative, moody and intensive soul search in sound. This deep and progressive fusion dances on the border of Trance, languishes at the door of a more Global cadence and indulges an inventive experimental tip. The result is a movement that transcends passion and emotion for a sound excursion truly unique to Africa’s Electronic circuit.’ (words by Holly Jade)
Gate Bay the brand reflects on the experiences of both members through their productions and live shows, its this passionate approach and artistry that creates the backbone of one the most exiting young acts to come out of South Africa in a while. With a wealth of knowledge and experience both internationally and locally, and an intimate understanding of their sound, Gate Bay is set to truly make a mark with their distinctive take on melodies and grooves.
Whether it be hard at work in the studio or balancing tour schedules, Gate Bay undoubtedly has to be one of the hardest working duo’s around…and their dedication pays off, with their first release “Any other name” creating huge interest amongst progressive house dj’s internationally, the excitement sure is building up to the release of the artist album set for late 2009, early 2010.
Back home in South Africa, Gate Bay aims to shape the public’s appreciation and understanding of the genre in creating truly memorable nights around the country and building the already exiting and emerging dance scene.
